Students welcomed at WHS

For the month of July WHS has offered students the chance to do 2 weeks work experience in departments around the facility.  Alex Moseley-Ames and Matthew Woodward from Arthur Terry School based in Sutton Coldfield and Jack Dennis from Kingsbury School situated in Tamworth have been working in the tool room whilst Jack Moore from Smiths Wood Sports College located in Smiths Wood has undertaken jobs in our main stores office.

Both groups have carried out a number of different tasks whether it be making drill drifts which they drew from a design and instruction sheet or re-adjusting stocks on our system.  They also learnt the safe disposal of oil with reference to COSHH or handling our sister company ETS painted part’s spreadsheets.  All four students have thrived within this new environment, with staff from WHS praising how well the students fitted in and picked up tasks quickly within the company and what enthusiasm they all showed over their time at WHS.  All of the students agreed that this experience was important for their future careers and thoroughly enjoyed it.

WHS prides itself on encourage young people to progress throughout the company and this was a great way for the students to introduce them to working life.   We wish them all the best for the future.
