Back to NewsApprentice and Graduate placements at WHS
This month the HRM department have gone around the Birmingham area to find apprentice and graduate placements for various job roles at WHS. HR placement student Sophie Neale and Recruitment manager Iain Collard attended a Placement Fair at De Montfort University to help try and promote our HR placement scheme that we currently have running with Sophie. The aim from the visit was to get our name out there more and to hopefully attract placement students that are interested in all areas of business to ultimately become a part of the WHS team when the school year starts in September. The event was very beneficial as Sophie and Iain both got to share their experiences from being on placement as well as promoting the one year placements that as a company we are interested in offering potentially to other departments.
Along with graduate placements Iain and Sophie along with our toolroom apprentice Charlie Walters went to WMG Academy in Coventry to promote WHS Plastics’ Apprenticeship scheme; that we are hoping to get in place ready for this year. The team have had a great response from both placement fairs with students already emailing in asking to know more about the apprenticeships on offer as well as asking for an application form. Sophie quoted; “I don’t think the placement fairs could have gone any better! Because we are a supplier, it makes it more challenging for students to have heard of us before. But I think overall its been really positive for the company, a lot more people would have gone away knowing more about WHS Plastics and what we do as a whole.”
