Shunter Driver – Shift Work

The Role

In this role you are responsible for all internal movement of stock whilst ensuring that it is unloaded at the correct destination site in a timely manner.

The Person

  • Should be physically fit.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Should be a team player and have ability to coordinate with fellow workers.
  • Conscientious and flexible.
  • Remains calm under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Movement of goods between all sites.
  • Conduct a visual check on each pallet to determine site destination.
  • Ensure pallets are unloaded at the correct destination.
  • Prioritise urgencies escalated by the material handlers.
  • Ensure all capacity of the shunter is utilised where possible.
  • Support load and unload incoming and outgoing materials and finished goods, if needed.
  • Ensuring that the trucks, meets all legal requirements concerning Health and Safety on a daily basis and report any areas of concern to the manager immediately.
  • Supporting production with stillage’s and packaging movements.
  • Keeping the yard area housekeeping to a high standard.
  • Assist in others areas of the stores where possible.

General Responsibilities and Duties

  • Adhere to company quality awareness.
  • Meeting Health and Safety standards supporting others to do the same.
  • Assist other areas of the business when required to carry out the same or similar tasks.
  • Any other reasonable duties required

Desired Skills and Experiences

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Terberg licence required.
  • FLT Reach licence required.
