Mental Health Awareness Sessions

In July, three Mental Health Awareness sessions were held at WHS. A total of 36 people are now mental health aware after taking part in the three sessions held over the month. Everyone has walked away from the course with a better understanding and awareness of Mental Health and are all comfortable that they could engage in a supportive conversation surrounding mental health issues and signpost where necessary.

It is a fact that mental health issues are a normal part of life. In any one year, approximately one in four people experience at least one diagnosable mental health issue. The long standing stigma around mental ill health means that many people have a limited understanding of mental health. We hope to help put a stop to this stigma and utilise the people within WHS who have attended the sessions.

Below are a few comments from some of the participants:

“The course has helped me understand the need to help others with mental health issues.”

“The course gave me good foundational knowledge of mental health. I now feel I can support my colleagues at work.”

“Very informative and enjoyable.”

“The course was really informative and well structured. I have found it very beneficial and feel that I have taken something away from the session that I can apply in both my daily life and at work.”

“It was an excellent course. I got a lot out of it from a personal point of view.”

“I found the course very informative. It opened my eyes to new ways of approaching my team who may have mental health issues.”

“Really interesting content. I have learnt a great deal about mental health and would recommend the course to other people within the company.”

“The course has enlightened me with things that I did not previously understand.”
