Back to NewsWork experience at WHS
Over the past month WHS have been pleased to have hosted nine work experience students from various schools in the Birmingham area from Bishop Walsh in Sutton Coldfield, Polesworth high school in Tamworth to Edgbston high school to name a few. The students worth experience week at WHS is designed to allow students to gain experience of the working environment, creating skills which will be of benefit upon leaving school with the students working in various departments at WHS such as finance, logistics, sales, NPI, the assembly area and our own toolroom.
One student commented ‘I have learnt more about what the company does and how it operates and also how it is progressing. I have also realised how communication is a very important life skill.’ This year’s work experience has been very successful and extremely beneficial to all students. They have gained an insight into Production in our Sealed Air cell, designed a maze and transferred a drawing into a CAD/CAM design and had it created in the design department, gained experience in a busy Finance office and shadowed various experienced Toolmakers in the Toolroom.
Over the last 20 years WHS have hosted work experience weeks for various students and over 30 young people have joined WHS after having their work experience time with us. All nine students have enjoyed their experience with us and have learnt numerous skills throughout their week within the company which will aide them in their working life. WHS wish them good luck in their future endeavours and hope to see them return to WHS in the future.
