This month WHS played host to work experience to year 11 students at Park hall school, learning how different departments at WHS work along side each other and also what day to day activities are involved.
All students carried out a number of different tasks weather it be creating purchase orders and despatch notes by using the sage software, booking transport or being part of our assembly lines for our finished products. Jade, who was based in our Diversey commercial office and stores office stated that ‘The repetitive and constant use of these programs has helped me gain a wider understanding of how the business works and has also helped me gain confidence in my ability of office based work. I now understand that all future careers I may choose when I’m older will all have some aspects of the job which may be similar’
All the Park hall students grew within this new environment, with staff from WHS praising how well the students fitted into their roles and picked up tasks quickly within the company and the enthusiasm they showed whilst working in their set departments. All the students agreed that work experience was vital for their chosen career Mistie, who was based in our purchasing office and also our assembly area said ‘Within these two weeks of work experience , I have learnt that work experience is essential for anyone in life as it gives them a stepping stone into work, as getting use to a working environment in an area is vital for my future.’
WHS prides itself on encouraging young people to progress throughout the company and this was a great way to introduce them to working life, Demi who was based in our main stores and logistics area, said ‘ My time at WHS Plastics has defiantly been worthwhile, I would just like to say thank you to everyone that gave my work placement and the variety of job roles there is in a company like WHS plastics, I will be sure to visit again.’
